Built between 1890 and 1896, St George’s Market is one of Belfast’s oldest attractions. As well as being home to some of the finest fresh produce, with customers travelling near and far to sample the delights of Friday and Saturday markets, it has become one of the City’s most popular places to visit.
The Friday Variety Market opens at 6am until 1pm featuring 248 market stalls selling diverse wares from Atlantic Shark to zips, antiques to fresh fruit. The fish section alone contains 23 fish stalls and holds the reputation for being the leading retail fish market in Ireland.
The City Food & Garden Market takes place in St George’s every Saturday from 9am to 3pm. Featuring a fusion of flavours, St George’s Market hosts the best foods from local Northern Ireland producers alongside continental speciality foods from around the world. Shoppers can enjoy beef from Armagh and award winning Irish Farmhouse Cheeses as well as Spanish tapas, French pastries and Slavonic foods. There are also flower and craft stalls as well as live jazz and flamenco performances.
1 Victoria Square
Northern Ireland’s biggest shopping centre, Victoria Square hosts 98 shops, an eight-screen Odeon Cinema and over a dozen eateries. Victoria Square is also home to Northern Ireland’s first House of Fraser store, which sits alongside popular brand such as Hollister, Pumpkin Patch, All Saints, Firetrap and Hardy Amies.
The complex is topped with a dazzling glass dome which is also a viewing gallery, overlooking the city’s rooftops. where you can look across the Belfast rooftops.
Victoria Square is open seven days a week, with late night shopping until 7pm on Monday-Tuesday and until 9pm Wednesday-Friday.
